The Paku fish is a large, freshwater species native to South America, particularly the Amazon and Orinoco river basins. Known for its distinctive, deep, laterally compressed body, the Paku has a close resemblance to the piranha but is typically herbivorous, feeding on fruits, seeds, and vegetation rather than meat. As it matures, the Paku can grow to impressive sizes, sometimes reaching up to 3 feet in length. Despite its gentle nature, it can be quite powerful, and its strong jaws are capable of crushing nuts and seeds. Paku fish are often kept in large aquariums or ponds, but due to their size and dietary needs, they require spacious, well-maintained environments.
